Hey Jim, good to see someone else who is a bit gadget obsessed and looks for interesting ways to cobble stuff together! :-)
I'm interested in your comment about the IWB in your wife's classroom. The whole thing about needing to convert to a PDF in order to annotate it sounds very fishy to me. What sort of board is it? What software is she using? Annotating over a document is a pretty standard feature of most IWB software I've looked at, so I'm sure they've given you a bum steer at the helpdesk. (Not that THAT ever happens!)
Let me know, I'll find you a better way...

I totally agree with you. I think that this is such a big issue and I sometimes think we are going backwards. I would love to work in a school where everyone was on the same page with this. I wish I had the answers

Thanks Jim, the Maslow's hierarchy diagram is a great way to explain the Facebook importance to our 40+yo typical teacher. It also helps explain why so many people are now leaving FaceBook having moved a bit up the hierarchy. Nice idea.

I was a bit shocked when I joined my first online networking site (Facebook) only to discover that almost everyone I have ever known had beaten me to it! I think we're getting closer and closer to a world where a large part of our socialising is done online. A large part of this is convenience, but I also think there's a great novelty about these sites - that's one of the things I was attracted to. I'll be interested to see what happens when the novelty wears off. I hope we are still able to make time for face to face contact with friends and loved ones.
